We are proud to present our incredible intensive therapy program called GAT, Grupo Academico Terapéutico, which is aimed at improving the current situation of children thanks to its all-inclusive therapy service (during school hours). Our goal is to increase the quality of daily life of families with children with difficulties in communication, social relationships and with a special emphasis, but not exclusively, of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). GAT integrates regular school or special education with therapeutic practice, providing support to children, families and also their regular school. Our students partially attend their regular school or special education school, and also attend GAT at Tot Teràpia. The distribution of the days of attendance at GAT is decided according to the needs of each child.
Our main aim is to enable the development and progress of each pupil in a safe environment, therefore reducing anxiety and allowing them to give the best of themselves. We want them to develop to their full potential in the future, as people who feel integrated and valued in their environment.
GAT, while functioning as a school, is intended to be a temporary bridge, so that over time, the children become less and less dependent on therapeutic support and can return full time to their regular school.
The specific objectives for GAT in Tot Teràpia are:
Our GAT method was developed from the idea that parents are the best experts and knowers of their children's needs. We start from the child's perception and family support to create a specific education for each student.
Our work is holistic and transdisciplinary, with a psychologist acting as coordinator, and a speech therapist, an occupational therapist (sensory integration) and other specialised therapists (music therapy, art therapy, dog therapy, neuro-kinesiology) as support staff. We offer quality in all areas of our intervention: communication, social relations, cognition, behaviour, emotion, sensory, body and neurological.
We use methods that share our vision, such as: TEACCH®, SCERTS®, Dir FloorTime®, Relationship Development Intervention (RDI), HANEN®, Functional Neurology and Sensory Integration.
GAT is designed for children aged 3 to 6 years with difficulties in language and social relations and especially autism spectrum disorder.
The different modalities that GAT offers to its students are:
1 day mode: attend 1 day a week at GAT and the rest at the school (includes 1 session of Speech Therapy or Occupational Therapy).
2-day modality: attend 2 days a week at GAT and the rest at the school (includes 2 sessions of Speech Therapy or Occupational Therapy).
3-day mode: attend 3 days a week at GAT and the rest at the school (includes 2 sessions of Speech Therapy or Occupational Therapy).
4-day mode: attend 4 days a week at GAT and the rest at the school (includes 2 sessions of Speech Therapy or Occupational Therapy).
5-day mode
Take a look at our play and learning room! The small city is 80 m2, made up of different areas where you can do a variety of exercises to enable your child to function better in their daily life. We do exercises individually as well as in groups. We can also change the conditions in the room (lower the light intensity, play music, add sounds through transmitters), thus creating the perfect atmosphere for each therapy session!
We also have a sensory room, with low stimulation intensity, which the children can access when they need a space to regulate themselves or where we can work individually with little stimulation.
On the other hand, we also have an Occupational Therapy room where, apart from the individual sessions, we hold the Psychomotricity group.
